Don’t Be So Traumatic! is an in-person educational experience that takes medical coders behind the documentation to explore the patient journey from emergency response through the Emergency Department and ultimately into the medical record. Attendees will begin with an up-close look at an emergency response vehicle while learning about the processes, terminology, equipment, and care involved before a patient reaches the hospital. The program then follows the patient into the Emergency Department, examining the clinical processes, terminology, equipment, care, and decision-making that eventually become the documentation coders work with. The session is designed to give medical coding professionals a broader understanding of the real-world care behind the records they interpret each day. Attendees will also earn at least 2.0 AAPC CEUs, participate in networking, and have an opportunity to take part in the River City Chapter officer elections.
